Come and decorate eggs with us and discover how this tradition intertwines with various cultures and holidays around the world. In this art workshop, we will talk about the origins of the tradition of egg decorating, which itself symbolizes new life and renewal. We will focus on two interesting celebrations during which eggs are painted – the Persian New Year Nouruz and the Egyptian holiday Sham el Nessim, both of which are associated with the celebrations of the arrival of spring.

The music program celebrating 130 years of the Holešovice Market will bring a series of concerts from April to May, connecting the contemporary Czech music scene with the unique atmosphere of the industrial space of the market. Visitors can look forward to a diverse lineup – from electronic experiments by WWW NEUROBEAT to the delicate indie-folk of Republic of Two, and the powerful energy of hardcore legends Slut and Meat-House Chicago I.R.A. There will also be new discoveries from the music scene, such as Ida The Young and Anna Vaverková.
The multi-genre space Nová Spirála at the Exhibition Grounds will welcome world-class tenor Pavel Černoch this April, who has recently been nominated for an Anděl Award in the classical category for his album Smetana Arias. His performances in the Czech Republic are rather unique, but Pavel Černoch feels at home on the most prestigious stages of the world’s theaters and opera houses. Therefore, anyone looking forward to another opportunity to enjoy the beauty and power of the voice of this Brno native, who has performed on stages such as La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Covent Garden in London, and Opéra Bastille in Paris, should hurry to purchase a ticket for one of the two exceptional performances at Nová Spirála at the Exhibition Grounds. This will take place on April 15 and 16 in the large hall of Nová Spirála, and visitors can look forward not only to Pavel Černoch himself but also to the accompaniment of the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, as well as his guests Radka Fišarová, Michaela Štiková Gemrotová, and Hana Holišová. Together, they will present the best of opera arias, as well as songs from world-renowned and beloved musicals, perhaps from the pen of Andrew Lloyd Webber or Leonard Bernstein.
Get ready for an adrenaline ride! The urban obstacle race is returning to the Bohnice Psychiatric Hospital on April 11-12, 2025, a place with a unique atmosphere where history meets challenge. You can expect iconic obstacles, running between ancient buildings, expansive parks, and mysterious corners. This is not just an ordinary race – this is a challenge that will put you to the test!
Prague Zoo has bred one of the rarest water birds on the planet, the Brazilian teal. A total of five chicks are thriving in the breeding facility. This species has hatched here for the first time in the world outside its South American homeland. Its occurrence in the wild is very fragmented – the most well-known isolated population of Brazilian teals in the wild survives in the Serra da Canastra National Park in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. Experts estimate the total number to be less than 250 individuals. If the breeding of these critically endangered fish-eating ducks at Prague Zoo is successful, it will be a historic achievement of global significance.
