A legendary show and the world's most popular musical with a gripping story of passion and destruction, love and hatred against the backdrop of a nation torn by revolution. Les Misérables, based on the book by Victor Hugo, has music by Claude-Michel Schönberg and lyrics by Alain Boublil. The musical premiered for the first time at the Palais des Sports in Paris in 1980. Its English adaptation, written by Herbert Kretzmer, premiered five years later, on October 8, 1985, in London. The musical is still performed there today, making it the longest-running musical in the world. In 1987, it premiered on Broadway, where it won three Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book. Over the years, it has been presented in many cities around the world such as Tokyo, Budapest, Reykjavík, Oslo, Melbourne, Vancouver, Vienna, Madrid, Stockholm, Singapore, Tallinn, and Belgrade. On the stage of the Goja Music Hall, the grand story of the convict Jean Valjean and his eternal pursuer - the policeman Javert, the love of Cosette and Marius, the brave student uprising on the Parisian barricades led by Enjolras, the schemes of the innkeepers the Thénardiers, the unfulfilled feelings of the emotional Éponine, the life's tribulations of Fantine and little Gavroche come to life in a magnificent musical epic with a new musical arrangement and a star-studded cast. A masterpiece and absolutely the most perfect musical spectacle, full of emotions and twists, that is LES MISÉRABLES!
