Visit the new exhibition Quietly Striving for Beauty, where you will see the Memory Box, masks made from bread shovels, and the Nobject.
The exhibition "Silently Striving for Beauty" at Gallery 1 presents Czech craftsmanship and folk art in new contexts. The exhibiting authors attempt to reintegrate folk customs and traditions into contemporary life, thus preserving the value of this cultural heritage. Abstract values such as gratitude, transience, compassion, or the desire for someone to love us are transformed into objects that surround us daily and that we use.
The exhibition will feature, for example, a memory box by the studio Picky Parents and Klára Šumová, porcelain Christmas ornaments designed by Monika Martykánová, and metal-decorated Easter eggs by Jaroslava Příhodová. Michal Cimala carved masks from bread shovels, Tereza Sluková and Milan Pekař contributed a Cabinet of Curiosities, Klára Hegerová revived a cable called cígr, and Robert Vlasák modeled the Nobject.

ANIMALS FROM FAIRY TALES AND MYTHS
Prague Zoo will offer free special pre-Christmas tours for kindergarten and elementary school students from December 2 to 20. These guided tours will focus on creatures known primarily from fairy tale books or television screens and will debunk various ingrained myths associated with them. What does a real devil look like? Where do mythical dragons live? And what is the truth about dancing lemurs? All this and much more will be revealed to the children during the tours, which can be booked now. Schools can take advantage of a favorable pricing scheme for school groups – kindergarten students will pay 50 CZK, while elementary school students will pay 100 CZK for entry to the zoo.
