Crazy ride over the water! Red Bull Kolo Molo for the first time in Prague
Crazy machines, creative costumes, adrenaline on the water surface, and a hefty dose of summer energy. On Saturday, June 21, the premiere edition of the Red Bull Kolo Molo event will take over Prague, transforming the Vltava River into a cycling arena where everything is at stake – speed, style, and a steady hand on the handlebars, because any hesitation means a plunge into the water. Get ready for a show like the capital has never experienced before! Red Bull Kolo Molo is based on a successful Dutch concept that first pedaled its way in The Hague in 2023. Two-member teams will design and build their own tandem bike, which they will attempt to tame on a narrow track full of obstacles stretched above the Vltava River. The goal is clear – reach the end of the course, ring the bell, and if possible, avoid ending up in the water. But beware! The best team is not just the fastest one. The jury will also evaluate the original design of the bike and the show – so in addition to skill in the saddle, incorporate costumes, choreography, or any other element that will turn your ride into an unforgettable spectacle. Let your imagination run wild! How to sign up? Just form a two-member team, with both members being over 18 years old, and register by April 27, 2025, at redbull.cz/kolomolo. The application includes a sketch of the prototype tandem bike designed by the team. The jury will then select approximately 40 of the most creative teams that will get the chance to turn their design into reality and shine on race day. Star inspiration The decision on who will shine the most will also be made by Olympic kayaker Vavřinec Hradilek, who will sit on the jury. “The winning team must not only have great technique but also energy and a show that entertains both the audience and the jury. It’s important to come up with something original that everyone will remember,” describes Vavřinec. “I’m looking forward to seeing not only great rides but also humor and creativity that belong to these events.” Well-known names from the Czech bike scene – Tomáš Slavík and Michal Maroši – have also joined the preparations for the event. As experienced riders, they would advise participants: “Mainly, keep your balance and don’t be afraid of it. The synergy of the riders will be important because a tandem bike is a different level than anyone thinks,” says Tomáš Slavík. “And I also recommend taking a deep breath – but not underwater,” adds Michal Maroši with a smile. New Spiral in 2025: tenorist and nominee for the Anděl award Pavel Černoch, premiere of the retro-futuristic revue The Saturn Revue, concert of Squid Game and Vojta Dyk
One of the most significant events of last year at the Exhibition Grounds was undoubtedly the opening of the New Spiral after twenty-two years, which has already hosted dozens of performances, both as part of its own productions and third-party events. The space of the stage, which was supposed to be demolished a few years ago, was opened by the musical show Resurrection, from which visitors can also look forward to repeats this year. In addition, the own production presented, in collaboration with Live Creation, the romance The Bridges of Madison County based on the literary work by Robert James Waller, which is also very popular, and this year the Spiral will offer more repeats. In the fall, however, this multi-genre space will present another of its premieres, the variety show The Saturn Revue in co-production with Deep Side Production. The retro-futuristic revue promises a unique show against the backdrop of a strong love story between two different beings. There will also be dozens of other events, including a concert by Vojta Dyk, a concert for Squid Game, and yet-to-be-announced concerts by foreign artists. This year, a small hall of the New Spiral will also open, which will be a space for music parties, children's theater performances, and modern dance shows.

The multi-genre space Nová Spirála at the Exhibition Grounds will welcome world-class tenor Pavel Černoch this April, who has recently been nominated for an Anděl Award in the classical category for his album Smetana Arias. His performances in the Czech Republic are rather unique, but Pavel Černoch feels at home on the most prestigious stages of the world’s theaters and opera houses. Therefore, anyone looking forward to another opportunity to enjoy the beauty and power of the voice of this Brno native, who has performed on stages such as La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Covent Garden in London, and Opéra Bastille in Paris, should hurry to purchase a ticket for one of the two exceptional performances at Nová Spirála at the Exhibition Grounds. This will take place on April 15 and 16 in the large hall of Nová Spirála, and visitors can look forward not only to Pavel Černoch himself but also to the accompaniment of the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, as well as his guests Radka Fišarová, Michaela Štiková Gemrotová, and Hana Holišová. Together, they will present the best of opera arias, as well as songs from world-renowned and beloved musicals, perhaps from the pen of Andrew Lloyd Webber or Leonard Bernstein.
