Come and say goodbye to winter in style – at an art workshop right in the castle.
Come and say goodbye to winter in style – at an art workshop right in the castle. Here, your children will create Morena, Morana, Mařena, or the Grim Reaper with their own hands. It doesn’t really matter. She probably doesn’t care much about the name. In any case, it’s a small doll made from natural materials that represents the symbol of winter. While creating, we can hum songs and recite poems together. Like this one: “Spring has come to the village, where are you winter, where are you? Winter was among us, but it’s now behind the mountains. Hu, hu, hu, spring is here!” Do you know it? Grifo is diligently learning the words and is said to be hiding somewhere in the castle to tune in with us for the arrival of spring. Because warmth, light, and comfort – that’s what he can provide. Come to creatively welcome the new and joyful beginning that awaits us! And if you have time and mood before the workshop, come early. From 10:00, there will be a puppet fairy tale about winter that refuses to leave. On the contrary – it keeps growing. Let’s carry Morena out with the children with the help of songs; it will be fun! Information: Place: Ctěnice Castle Grounds The workshop is ideal for children aged 3 and up accompanied by parents, but creators aged 10 can manage on their own. Alternatively, our lovely instructor will help them. Capacity is limited to 25 people. Admission: 70 CZK/person. Children under 7 have free entry.

THE RAREST DUCKLINGS IN THE WORLD HAVE HATCHED AT PRAGUE ZOO

Prague Zoo has bred one of the rarest water birds on the planet, the Brazilian teal. A total of five chicks are thriving in the breeding facility. This species has hatched here for the first time in the world outside its South American homeland. Its occurrence in the wild is very fragmented – the most well-known isolated population of Brazilian teals in the wild survives in the Serra da Canastra National Park in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. Experts estimate the total number to be less than 250 individuals. If the breeding of these critically endangered fish-eating ducks at Prague Zoo is successful, it will be a historic achievement of global significance.
