The brightest stars of the evening will be Harry and Rupert Gregson-Williams, the Danna brothers, and superstar Christophe Beck, the composer of unforgettable soundtracks for hits like Frozen and the Ant-Man trilogy. Their most famous works will be performed by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, including the live premiere of the music for Gladiator II. Online ticket sales are available on the Composers Summit Prague website or through Ticketportal.
The charity concert Music Connects will culminate this year's Composers Summit Prague. The 4th edition of the most significant event of its kind in Europe will take place in the Czech capital from April 17 to 22. The concert will be held in solidarity with the victims of the devastating fires in Los Angeles, which also affected some of the participants. Both Christophe Beck and Jeff Danna lost their homes in the flames, and Harry Gregson-Williams also faced evacuation. “In light of the tragic events in Los Angeles, we have decided to donate the entire proceeds from the final concert to support affected fellow musicians, artists, and workers in the music sector who have lost their homes due to the large fire,” says Alexandr Smutný, director of Composers Summit Prague.
Award-winning composers who will personally participate in the final concert are among the main guests of the summit. In addition to Christophe Beck, whose soundtrack for the hit Frozen (Ledové království) sold over ten million copies worldwide and became triple platinum in the USA, there is Harry Gregson-Williams. He is also the composer of the music for films like Shrek and Gladiator II, which is in this year's broader selection for the Oscar. Harry will be joined at the summit by his brother, successful composer Rupert Gregson-Williams, known for his work with Adam Sandler and for composing music for films like Aquaman, Wonder Woman, and Hacksaw Ridge: The Birth of a Hero. Oscar-winning composer Mychael Danna, known for the music of Life of Pi, will return for the third time, this time accompanied by his brother Jeff Danna, with whom he collaborated on films like The Good Dinosaur and The Addams Family.
The life story of Canadian composer Jeff Danna is full of interesting twists. Originally, he wanted to become a virtuoso guitarist and pursue a concert career, which he was on track to achieve. However, at the age of twenty-two, he seriously injured his hand, putting an end to his previous plans. His brother Mychael was already starting to compose soundtracks at that time and suggested that Jeff help him with composition. This led to part of the music for the film Cold Comfort, which was subsequently nominated for a Genie Award and opened the door for Danna to Hollywood. Their collaborative work is praised for its depth, emotional power, and ability to connect music with the visual story. In addition, Jeff has composed music for films like Resident Evil: Apocalypse and Boondock Saints.
About Composers Summit Prague (CSP)
CSP is a creative-cultural event, an educational networking platform for professionals in audiovisual media, aiming to elevate the level of both Czech and international talents. Its mission is to open the door to the world of foreign collaborations. Currently, it is an event of European dimensions that not only raises the cultural value of the Czech Republic but also creates a fundamental platform for education and collaborative creation within the community.
CSP will bring award-winning Hollywood composers and music supervisors from global labels like Netflix, Amazon, and Marvel to Prague for the fourth time in April. Star film composers and top music professionals will lead masterclass lessons and workshops for accredited participants. Three major musical experiences are prepared for the public – special concerts accompanied by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. These include the April 17 gala evening of film music: Hollywood Composers Live, April 19 Squid Game Live Experience: The Music That Conquered the World, and April 22 Music Connects: A Charity Concert of Hollywood Composers.
During last year's edition, several successes were achieved, such as the creation of a jingle for the US presidential election for CNN Prima News, supervised by five-time Emmy winner Jeff Beal. Thanks to the summit, a Czech footprint appeared in the new film Alarum with Sylvester Stallone, and in November, significant influencer in this field Nahre Sol arrived in Prague, with whom a musical project, Streets of Prague, was filmed. A scholarship for a Master's program at the prestigious Berklee College in Valencia was also arranged, where only one Czech student has studied during its entire existence.
