The most magical places of 2024 according to Amazing Places

Every year, Amazing Places awards magical locations in 12 thematic categories based on the type of accommodation and in five special categories, including the overall winner. There is also a special category for foreign locations and the project Czechs in the World. The overall winner of this year's edition is Grandhotel Pupp. The special Hero Award went to Fuck Cancer.

Year after year, the decision about the most magical places is made, with individual magical locations in the travel love brand Amazing Places constantly raising the standard of accommodation provided. Amazing Places, which celebrated its first anniversary this year, is expanding the number of locations both in the Czech Republic and abroad. Currently, they connect 458 places in the Czech Republic and 113 in foreign destinations. The increasing competition fulfills the wish of Petr Kotík, the founder of Amazing Places; it is evident that the individual locations in the project are not mutual competitors, but rather inspire each other.

The magical places in the competitive categories are evaluated by the Amazing Places team. Through voting, they appreciate diverse criteria ranging from year-round access by operators to development.

Grandhotel Pupp

The absolute winner of the Most Magical Places of 2024 is the Grandhotel Pupp in Karlovy Vary.

“Thanks to the excellent approach to guests and also due to the fact that the hotel has invested enormous amounts into renovations in recent years, the Grandhotel Pupp has rightfully become the Absolute Winner of Amazing Places 2024. It has received an award that highlights the uniqueness and quality of not only Czech places,” said Petr Kotík from Amazing Places.

“This award is a huge honor for us. Since we have been operating the hotel under the Creditas group, there have been many conceptual changes that have been implemented gradually with regard to the character of the place. The hotel’s attendance has increased by 100 percent, which is clear evidence that our strategy is yielding results. This success is a collective effort of all of us at the hotel, and I am proud to be part of such a team,” stated Jindřich Krausz, the director of Grandhotel Pupp, adding: “Pupp is not just a hotel; it is a symbol of hospitality in our country that must be maintained and developed with respect for its uniqueness.”

Hero Award

This year’s edition also featured a special award for Hero of the Year, or the Hero Award.

In 2024, it was awarded to the project Fuck Cancer, with which Amazing Places collaborated throughout the year. Fuck Cancer supports and advocates for the interests of cancer patients, connects organizations that care for them, and spreads awareness about the issues of cancer.

“We are thrilled that we could specially recognize the Fuck Cancer project for the first time, which inspires with its courage and support for young people with cancer and brings hope where it is most needed,” commented Petr Kotík.

The patient organization Fuck Cancer not only received the award itself but also additional financial support; an auction of 10 paintings created by Amazing Places together with photographers at 10 magical locations was held in its favor.

The total amount raised in the auction was 61,477 crowns. The highest bid during the evening was for a photograph by Ondřej Košík capturing Chateau Mcely. The second highest bid was for the photo Mezi Plůtky by Karin Zedrick.
