New edition

Prague, March 2025 – The former slaughterhouse area of Holešovická tržnice is celebrating its 130th anniversary this year, and festivities will take place throughout the year. The main attractions will include not only gourmet events and the unique gastro performance concept BEEF, but also plenty of quality music, a pop-up café with a daily program, lectures, and original sermons not just about meat. Visitors will be able to experience all of this at the turn of April and May, alongside traditional events like the April Pastrami Pop Up 3 and the September Pizza! Pizza! Pop Up, which will also be part of the celebrations. However, Holešovická tržnice is alive year-round, just like the Food Truck Point next to Hall 22, where visitors can indulge in shopping for fresh produce, especially from Czech farmers, every day except Sunday. The entire celebratory journey of 130 years will conclude with a traditional Advent event featuring Mexican cuisine as part of Dia de los Muertos and classics like Mulled Wine & Film.

Pastrami Pop Up 3

The third edition of the meaty Pastrami event must not be missed in this year's celebrations. A gathering of lovers of high-quality cured meat in bread with traditional pickles and other meaty and non-meaty delicacies, along with plenty of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, will take place on April 24th from 11:00 AM, and of course, this will be an edition for the discerning, because when it comes to celebrations, only the highest quality will do, and of course, in the rhythm of dance!

Dive into the story of food and its history. Into the past of Holešovická tržnice – the former royal slaughterhouse. Into stories from the culinary world, into reflections on the future of our gastronomy.

Exhibition in the Tower

On the occasion of the anniversary, the viewing floor of the water tower will also be accessible. However, it will not only be an opportunity to see the surroundings of the area, but also a floor below will allow visitors to visualize what the area looked like 130 years ago, the landscape that could be seen from the tower in 1895.

Part of the exhibition will be an exposition that maps memories of Holešovická tržnice, whether in the form of period photographs or memories from direct witnesses of the slaughterhouse operations. There will also be a task trail that both children and adults can explore from the opening of the exhibition until September.

The exhibition will be accessible from April 24 to June 29, 2025.

Pizza! Pizza! Pop Up

Just like Pastrami, the Italian variant of the pop-up gastro journey in the market will offer its third edition this year, featuring the finest delicacies from the Apennine Peninsula. Not only pizzas but also pasta, focaccia, dolce & caffè with plenty of refreshing drinks will take over the market space on September 4th from 11:00 AM, and of course, there will be music with sunny Italian rhythms.

Dia de los Muertos and Mexican Specialties

The gastronomic pop-up journey will symbolically conclude with the Mexican Day of the Dead or Dia de los Muertos on October 31st from 11:00 AM in the market area and selected halls, when traditionally, visitors come to celebrate the reunion of the dead and living souls, which can meet again on this day once a year and celebrate life. And what would a celebration be without Mexican delicacies, where jalapeños and tortillas will take center stage, complemented by enchiladas, churros, and tequila. All of this will be accompanied by dance rhythms until late hours.

And for those who will still be hungry in the autumn, of course, alongside the delights from the Food Truck Point, which operates year-round next to Hall 22, they will have to wait for Advent, which will bring especially Christmas classics, mulled wine, punch, or roasted chestnuts. But more on that later, as winter of 2024 is still in session :)

Enjoy your meal at Holešovická tržnice and cheers to another 130 years!
