Interactive Experiences and Innovative Technologies

Visitors can conduct and experience the excitement of the Prague premiere of the opera Don Giovanni, play the harpsichord following the instructions of Mozart's father Leopold, or try to entertain Empress Maria Theresa… This is just a small sample of the experiences waiting for you in the new museum dedicated to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, whose life and work are closely linked to Prague.

„Throughout the museum, you will be guided by Mozart's inner voice, narrated by actor Karel Dobrý. The museum also features several living pictures created in collaboration with the Pokrok studio. Visitors can thus meet Mozart's father as portrayed by Martin Zbrožek, Antonio Salieri as played by Karel Dobrý, or Maria Theresa, brought to life by Barbora Vaculíková,“ reveals details about the exhibition musicologist PhDr. Eva Velická, PhD., the museum director.

Fun and Education

The new museum is located in a unique historical building, but its concept aims for the future. All exhibits are interactive and come to life thanks to the latest technologies, allowing you to enter the world of the brilliant composer like never before. You can try playing, drumming, or conducting and let yourself be immersed in music. The three floors of the museum represent different stages of Mozart's life. In the accompanying texts on the walls, you will learn a wealth of information that places the fun interactivity in both historical and contemporary contexts. The museum thus provides an ideal way to learn through play.

„Mozart's interactive museum in Prague is, in my opinion, a great initiative. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart stayed in Prague repeatedly and it is known that he loved this city and had a special relationship with it. And the people of Prague valued him as a composer and recognized the quality of his music. I am very pleased that the legacy of this musical genius will be passed down through generations in a fun and playful way. At the same time, I am glad that various events will take place in the museum throughout the year to support the foundation and disadvantaged children will not be left out,“ thanked the patron and founder of the foundation, Tereza Maxová

Music and Art in Connection with Modern Media

Throughout the museum, newly recorded original Mozart music will play, complemented at the end of the exhibition by modern adaptations in the styles of hip-hop, reggae, or metal. The musical recordings with an orchestra, choir, and soloists conducted by conductor Varhan Orchestrovič Bauer were created in the Church of St. Nicholas in the Old Town Square and in the renowned Faust recording studio.

Visitors can also get acquainted with the plots of four of Mozart's most famous operas through stylish videos. „For example, Don Giovanni is a film noir, we shot it at the Studio Ypsilon theater with their actors. The Marriage of Figaro is presented in the form of children's theater. For our filming, we created an original dollhouse from a double bass,“ explains the concept by the exhibition's author, Jakub Bechyně.
