Dancing House: Symbol of modern architecture

Dancing House: Symbol of modern architecture

One of the most famous and original examples of modern architecture in Prague is located on the Vltava riverbank, close to Jirásek Square. The iconic building called the Dancing House, which stands out with its unique design and symbolism, is an unmistakable part of the Prague skyline and offers cultural and gastronomic experiences.

New edition

The Dancing House, also known as "Ginger and Fred," was completed in 1996 and its creation is associated with the courage and vision of the then-president Václav Havel, who wished for an exceptional building to be built on the site destroyed by bombing during World War II. The design of the Dancing House is the work of two globally recognized architects - Czech Vlado Milunić and Canadian Frank Gehry.

Woman and Man

The house consists of two main towers that evoke the impression of a dancing couple. The dynamic form represented by the "dancing" part of the building embodies the female figure (Ginger), while the solid, vertically oriented part of the building resembles the male figure (Fred). This design, which attracted great attention and sparked discussions, has become a symbol of Prague as a city that values its history but is not afraid of modern challenges and innovations.

The play is based on the biting and precise dialogue of the married couple Daniel and Sibille. The essentially problem-free life of a successful upper-middle-class couple with two children is strongly stagnating and deepening its crisis. When Daniel's ex shows up at the door one evening, there is no turning back. Or is there?
