In winter, in Slovácko, they sample spirits, sausages, and jellied dishes.

Right after Epiphany, when the Christmas spirit fades away, the season of tastings and costume balls begins in Slovácko. Various things are tasted, starting with spirits, soon followed by sausages, spreads, different types of cakes, or even jellied meats. Those looking for wine in winter can find it at these costume balls, where it is never absent.

Fruit brandy festivals offer much more than just classic plum brandy. Organizers have long learned to seek out specific types such as oskerušovice, quince brandy, or the popular macerates and liqueurs among women. It's important to enjoy fruit brandies with good food, so these events are the perfect opportunity to taste regional delicacies.

One of the most famous festivals is the Fruit Brandy and Sauerkraut Festival in Mikulčice at the end of January. This is soon followed by the Plum Brandy and Distillates Festival in Bukovany near Kyjov. These festivals, featuring the singing of male and female choirs from Slovácko, offer hundreds of samples. In Veselí nad Moravou, in the Zarazice area, the fruit brandy festival in January is combined with tasting specialties from pig slaughtering. More fruit brandy festivals follow in other Slovácko municipalities in February and March.

In Milotice near Kyjov, there is a festival of drkotiny, or pork jelly, and in Bukovany near Kyjov, a festival of spreads. Every year, new festivals emerge. We invite you to the National Theatre Ballet SCHEHERAZADE.

The story of Scheherazade is known from the oriental tale One Thousand and One Nights, and its archetypal principle has inspired world art. Nikolai A. Rimsky-Korsakov created a symphonic suite of the same name, and Mikhail Fokin staged the first ballet in 1910. Now, choreographer Mauro Bigonzetti has been captivated by Scheherazade's beauty and wit, resulting in a new original production for the National Theatre Ballet. Unlike the Paris premiere, he has placed only two main characters on stage, King Shahryar and Scheherazade. They represent the masculine and feminine principles, balance, and an equal authentic relationship. The fate of the ancient "Shahrazad" was fulfilled in Persia in the 10th century. However, its message is meta-temporal and meta-spatial. These are deeply internalized themes that are passed down from generation to generation and always find a new form adapted to the culture of the time in which they appear.
